Counter terrorism training centre to be established in Maharashtra, India

Centre will be provided with high-tech terror-training equipment and weapons
A counter-terrorism training centre to train policemen in combating urban terrorism is to be established in Baramati, Maharashtra.
The decision was made at a meeting attended by deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, home minister R R Patil, additional chief secretary (home) Umeshchandra Sarangi and director general of police D Sivanandan.
Pawar agreed to allot a piece of land and Rs 20 crore towards the centre, which will be the first of its kind in the state.
Sivanandan said the plan was to provide sophisticated terror combat training at the centre. Home department officials said that the centre will be provided with high-tech terror-training equipment and weapons.
The state government plans to introduce dedicated combat models for urban streetscape at the training centre due to the rising threat perception of terror strikes in Mumbai.
